Spike Hedgehog is another great design by sculptor Thomas Meadows. He manages to capture the realistic look of the hedgehog by the placement and amount of spines sculpted. Apparently a large Hedgehog will have approximately 5000 spines which it loses and grows again annually. The ‘Hedge’ part of their name comes from where they build their nests, hedges, bushes and shrubs. The ‘hog’ part comes from the small snorting/grunting sound they make which is similar to a pig/warthog.
Spike makes a perfect gift for any hedgehog or animal lover and is the larger version of Dizzy.
Thomas Meadows works out of his Dorset studio and is both a painter and sculptor. Well known for his animals, he is also known for his versatility and the ability to sculpt any subject.
